Pialligo Estate is located on the banks of the Molonglo River. Long used by the Ngunnawal people, the river corridor was first settled by Europeans in the 1820s when intensive agricultural uses commenced.
A Pialligo local was reputed to have said “the soil is so good, you could grow gold sovereigns in it—if you knew where to find the seed”.
Now Pialligo Estate, with its 800 metres of river frontage and 28 hectares of deep sandy loam continues the tradition of producing the finest produce for the region to enjoy
Duntroon House, the former Campbell family homestead provided a rich source of inspiration for the concept design for “TheFarmhouse”.
The Campbell homestead was surrounded by orchards, vine yards and a formal garden. The high-pitched roof forms, shingle roofing, colonialglazing, stone walling and the later addition of lower veranda forms have all informed the architecture, styling and design a esthetic that was a dopted for “TheFarmhouse”.

Separated by paths and formal garden seach pavilion creates a private dining and function space that evokes tradition and elegance. Visual cues from the main Farm house building continue in the adjacent Garden Pavilions, including extensive use of recycled timber, pitched shingle roof sand copper. The Garden Pavilions are oriented to provide magnificent views of the Estate’s Vineyards, Olive Grove and Canberra’s skyline featuring Parliament House and Black Mountain tower. Our Garden Pavilions are designed to been joyed year round in climate controlled comfort.
